Melinda Brody – remembering an industry icon and the original new home video shopper
Melinda Brody was an icon and pioneer in the new home building industry, founding Melinda Brody & Company in 1986, one of the only mystery shopping companies to focus exclusively on home builders.
A nationally recognized speaker, she was a regular fixture on the stage at the International Builder’s Show, Southeast Building Conference, and most every Home Builder Association across the country for more than 25 years. Known for her humor and directness, Melinda’s lifelong passion was training, coaching, and speaking to new home sales associates, providing insight and advice on how to master their sales presentations.
Melinda held the MIRM designation (Master in Residential Marketing) and was a six time MAME Award winner (Major Achievement in Marketing Excellence). She was a recipient of the prestigious John P Hall Award in 2015 at the Southeast Building Conference Excel Awards and also recognized posthumously with the Legends Award at the NAHB’s The Nationals in 2020.
Melinda Brody & Company will celebrate its 40th year in business next year. And while Melinda is no longer with us, her spirit, grit and determination remain driving forces behind the company and its success.
